Dana-Farber ranked New England's best cancer hospital

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has once again been rated the best cancer hospital in New England and the fourth best in the nation by U.S. News and World Report magazine.

Produced to help patients decide where to seek medical care, the magazine's annual "America's Best Hospitals" guide, published in July, ranked medical facilities in 17 specialties on factors such as professional reputation, technology services, levels of nursing staffing, and mortality rates.

"We and our partners work every day to provide the best possible outcome for people with cancer in New England and around the world," says Dana-Farber President Edward J. Benz Jr., MD. "We are continually striving to bring new, more effective treatments from our laboratories to our patients.

"We're pleased to be rated so highly again, and that the excellent care provided by our collaborators at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Children's Hospital Boston has also been acknowledged by U.S. News and World Report," Benz adds.

While DFCI has placed among the top five institutions for cancer care whenever ranked by the magazine, the hospital had not been considered during the last two years due to methodological issues with the survey.
